There should be something for everyone in poetry land. Maybe not the same thing for everyone. There are a lot of poems to choose from –yours? A noted bard? A 20thcentury laureate? Find one, bring it, read it, share it.We would love to hear from you.^An ekphrastic poem is one inspired or stimulated by a work of art. Assignment: Bring a framed painting, picture, poster, or photograph to be displayed for one month at the library.  Visit the library, get inspired, create a poem, bring it and share it at the May reading. So start working.

 

DIRECTIONS FOR SUBMITTING ART FOR EKPHRASTIC POETRY MONTH

 

1. Artwork for the River Poets Ekphrastic Poetry Project should be given to a library staff member by Friday, April 6th. You will receive a receipt for the artwork, which will be needed later when you pick up the art.

2. Each piece of art will be labeled on the back or bottom with the owner’s name and phone number and/or email address. The library will have labels you can use.

3. If the art is for sale, the price may be listed. If not for sale, the label should be marked NFS.

4. Owners accept all risks in displaying their works: Bloomsburg River Poets, its members, The Bloomsburg Public Library, and its staff, are not responsible for damage or loss.

5. Owners should pick up their artwork by noon on Saturday, May 12, 2018.

DIRECTIONS FOR SUBMITTING POETRY

If you cannot attend the May 3rd meeting of RIver Poets, you can still submit an ekphrastic poem based on an artwork displayed at the library. Type your poem or print it neatly and give it to a library staff member by noon on Saturday, May 5th.

Ask for a receipt and be sure your name and phone number and/or email address is included if you would like your poem returned.
