*SU Slam Poetry strives to strengthen young writers’ skills in poetry and to encourage students’ writing, along with their appreciation of spoken word poetry. We practice how to perform in front of audiences, and we develop our writing skills with unique prompts each week. As a relaxed and supportive community, we aim to have fun at our meetings by watching slam poetry videos and sharing our appreciation for spoken word literature.

Dead Poets Reading – seeking the works, words, and wisdom of poets departed from this planet.  It is not mandatory, however if you are going to read your own poems, you are encouraged to include one by the deceased [of course, not you], so I guess it is mandatory after all. Costumes, masks, disguises are welcome.
