THEME: Nature
Kocher Park (along Fishing Creek, just north of the Village of Lightstreet, on state route 487) is the location for the August 7th reading. This is the second traditional outdoor reading on the schedule (July in the Bloomsburg Park was the first). Sunset is a bit earlier mid-way through summer, so we start earlier. We meet in a shaded pavilion…bring a poem to share and your outside voice.

THEME: MEMORIZED POEMS, getting right by rote. Poems can be two-liner ala Ogden Nash, limericks, sonnets, free verse, rhyme (perhaps, Robert Service), rap, and any other kind (epic Iliad anyone?). Before writing there was a tradition of telling tales and giving information, painting pictures by speaking. So, pick one or two poems, get comfortable with it/them, and start talking.

20 years of poetry including the re-reading of the fabled, long-lost, and legendary “RIVER POEM” –an epic word-journey about the Susquehanna River, multi-voiced, serpentine, rocky, and rough – well, all the things one associates with the waterway but without getting wet in the process…and CAKE!
