April 3, 2025
This is a very open, open reading. In other words, we do not have a featured reader, theme, or plot for this evening. We are open to the Fates, fortunes, and whims of the universe.
A call to all poets who have read or who have yet to read their poems aloud in the River Poets theater (Bloomsburg Public Library).
Do not be shy. Share your words [5 minute limit] – maximum 15 reading poets, (so maybe not open-ended, but open enough).
7:30 pm until 9 pm

Yes. April is National Poetry month. All of it. April 1 through April 30th
For all of April 2025, River Poets will distribute a number of Haiku throughout Bloomsburg. Look for them in shops, along walks, in parks, on walls, sidewalks. Take some time to read and think about one that you have found.
Simple presentations of white canvas boards with black lettering feature works mostly by Basho, Issa, and Jack Kerouac, with a few others tossed in the mix.
The Haiku often is thought to be a 3 line 17 syllable 5-7-5 layout. That is often not the case translated into English. So consider the effort to be Americanized Haiku…mostly 3 lines not necessarily 17 syllables and definitely not 5-7-5. However, they are shorter than this explanation.
