Michael Steffen ~ Michael’s fourth book, Blood Narrative, published by Main Street Rag Press (2021) can be purchased at He authored three award-winning poetry collections: No Good at Sea (Legible Press, 2002), Heart Murmur – a bilingual edition, Italian and English (Bordighera Press, 2009), and Bad Behavior (Brick Road Poetry Press, 2012). New poems have appeared or will appear in Panoply, New Mexico Review and The Lowell Review. He is a former mentor in the PEN Prison Writing Program and received a 2002 Fellowship from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Michael, a MFA graduate from Vermont College (2000), currently lives in Buffalo, NY.

UFO* inspired poetry reading at the Exchange

* UFO = unfinished objects

Our friends at the Exchange Gallery welcome River Poets “to write and read poems based on the exhibit UFOs. We are not limited to Unidentified Flying Objects, but rather any UN-FINISHED OBJECTS!

Our reading is scheduled for 7-8 PM on Thursday, September 15th at the Exchange, 24 East Main Street, Bloomsburg.”

The art exhibit of UFOs will be on display from August 29 to October 7. Oren invites us to stop by, peruse the art, and write a poem inspired by one or more pieces.

If stopping in to see the art in person is inconvenient, artwork will be available online shortly after the exhibit opens. We are also invited to submit artwork on the UFO theme. Contact Oren for details: 570-317-2596, 570-394-6805, or

Poets were recorded reading poems inspired by the Doppelgänger Exhibit. If you weren’t able to join us then, be sure not to miss this opportunity to put your poetic stamp on art from another genre or maybe out of this world.

Steven Concert ~ Steer Into the Skid (2022) is Steven’s first full-length collection of poetry. An award winning poet, his recent publication credits include Common Threads, Art Through the Eyes of the Mad Poets, Poetry 2022, and Word Fountain.
